Festivals & Events

The City of Sumter enjoys seeing the Sumter family come together, and has the pleasure of supporting some of the community's favorite events. Festivals and events are plentiful and you can count on having a wonderful time at:

• The famous Iris Festival, a Sumter tradition loved for generations and one of the oldest festivals in South Carolina,
• The Swan Lake Fantasy of Lights, the largest free Christmas light display in the state,
• Sumter @ Six in downtown Sumter with live bands entertaining thousands every month from April through October,
• The successful Sumter Shaw Street Fest honoring our men and women at Shaw Air Force Base is always a street party.
• Dress up the kids or the dog for the annual Halloween on Main in downtown Sumter.  Main Street will close, the moon will shine and the fun begins!
• Turn back time for the holiday's! Old Fashioned Christmas brings holiday traditions of yesterday alive in downtown's main street each December.

The City of Sumter is also pleased to offer something for the Adult's night out. Some of the community's favorite events are for the family but for those looking for a parent's night out there's something for you too!

• The Sumter's House of Comedy is sure to give you face pains and tummy cramps.  Are we sure that sounds like fun?  Well, when laughter is the cause of your pain...you'll be back for more,
• Fridays at the Plaza is where live Jazz and Big Band music entertains hundreds at the Centenniel Plaza each month from April through October.
